1. Remove the wing nut and top left washer from your cumbal stand
2. Place the sound OFF through the threaded stem so it lays on top of the cymbal
3. Choose the hole the best fits the cymbal. The bootom hole is intended for 16″ crash cymbals. The top hole is intended for 18″ crash cymbals and 20″ ride cymbals. The cymbals Soundoff will also work on 17″ and 19″ crahs cymbals, but may not be as effectvie.
4. Replace the top felt washer and the wing nut

The Cymbal SoundOFF will allow you to play directly on either the cymbal or the SoundOFF. When riding a cymbal, you will achieve moderate sound reduction when you play directly on the cymbal as if the SoundOFF was not there. For nearly complete sound reduction when riding a cymbal, play directly on the SoundOFF. When crashing a cymbal, you will achieve moderate sound reduction wether you play on the SoundOFF or on the cymbal.
